Wrinkle reduction - Botox®

One of the most popular procedures in the UK today to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Botulinum Toxin (Botox®) is safe and extremely effective. It can help rewind the years by giving you a smoother and more youthful-looking skin.

Botox® is a prescribed medication. It temporarily relaxes the muscles helping to prevent wrinkles from appearing or worsening, and new lines from forming. Treatment areas include frown lines, crows feet (lines around the eyes), and forehead

Botox® is manufactured by many brands, each have their own dynamics and variations in precision. Here at Radiant Aesthetics, we use only premium quality brand Botulinum Toxin by Botox® and Azzalure.

FAQs

What is the process and how is the procedure performed?

A consultation will be carried out to identify your requirements and medical history. If this is your first time as a client of Radiant Aesthetics, you will need to meet our prescriber as part of this consultation as Botox® requires a prescription. This is a legal requirement and takes roughly 20 minutes.

Following the consultation, we will book you in for your treatment. This involves injecting Botox® into specific areas, which generally leaves very little marks or redness to the skin. The procedure is relatively painless and takes 15 - 30 minutes. This includes enough time for clinical before-and-after photos to be taken.

We provide a free follow up appointment 2 weeks after the procedure to ensure your results.

When can I expect to see results and how long will it last?

Most people will see an improvement within 7 days, but the best results are visible around 2 weeks after Botox® has been administered.

The lasting effects of Botox® can vary from one person to the next. If this is your first time receiving Botox®, the effects can last up to 3 - 4 months. Over time you should need fewer procedures to maintain results. Studies suggest that topping up every 4 months for two years can lengthen results and increase the time between treatments.

What is the aftercare and do I require any downtime after the procedure?

Downtime varies from person to person, however, as a general rule, you may experience mild swelling and tenderness at the injection site. Any inflammation should disappear as quickly as 1 - 3 hours following your procedure. Bruising is rare, however, we advise all our clients that it is not always avoidable. If you have minor bruising, it's fine to use Arnica gel or cream on the affected area.

You can resume most of your usual activities immediately after the procedure, but to ensure the product remains in the specific areas it was administered, we advise you:

  • Not to rub, touch or massage the treated areas.

  • Avoid wearing makeup.

  • Avoid laying down for at least 4 hours.

  • Avoid exercise for at least 6 hours.

  • Avoid alcohol for at least 6 hours.

  • Avoid facials, saunas and any hot weather where possible.

  • Avoid going on any long haul flights for 48 hours.

Are there any side effects?

All cosmetic procedures carry risks and side effects. There are common temporary side effects lasting up to 3 days following your procedure with Botox®:

  • Tenderness at the injection site

  • Minor swelling at the injection site

  • Bruising

There are less frequent side effects following your procedure with Botox®:

  • A headache

  • Flu-like symptoms

  • Temporary eyelid ptosis (droopy eyelid) or eyebrow ptosis (droopy eyebrow).

Who is unsuitable for this procedure?

Clients who are pregnant, breastfeeding or with any neurological disease. All clients will be asked to fill in a medical consultation form to flag up any potential contraindications prior to the procedure.
