Lip filler (enhancements)

Lip augmentation is a procedure that restores youth, volume and shape in lips of any age. We specialise in creating a natural look, enhancing existing features to create beautifully balanced lips, which are in proportion with your face. Lip fillers consist of Hyaluronic Acid, which occurs naturally in our skin, so bodies recognise it as our own. The beauty of this procedure is, results can be seen immediately.

FAQs

What is the process and how is the procedure performed?

The appointment takes 1 hour. This includes a consultation followed by the procedure itself. As part of the consultation, we will go through your medical history, discuss your desired look, and guide you through your choice of dermal filler - don’t worry, we will guide you through this in depth.

Before the procedure is carried out, any makeup will be removed and the area cleansed. Numbing cream will be applied to the lips before proceeding to injecting the chosen lip filler, this usually takes 20 - 30 minutes to take effect. Within this window, there will be enough time for clinical before and after photos to be taken for documentation purposes.

When can I expect to see results and how long will it last?

The beauty of this type of treatment is the effect can be seen immediately, but best results will be seen in 2 weeks. The effects are long-lasting, non-permanent and reversible.

You can expect results to last between 6 - 12 months depending on which lip filler formula is used. We advise first-time clients that they may need to return 2 - 3 months following their procedure to build structure and volume to the lip. For repeat clients, we advise returning once every 6 - 9 months to maintain results.

Please be aware, absorption times differ within the brands and from client-to-client depending on how your body metabolises the product - Individual results may vary.

What is the aftercare and do I require any downtime after the procedure?

Downtime varies from person to person, however as a general rule you will experience some swelling and redness, these tend to resolve within a few days. However, bruising may take a little longer to completely go. If you're sensitive to bruising, we advise you to take arnica tablets 7 days before the procedure. If you have minor bruising it's fine to use arnica gel or cream on the affected area, this will reduce the amount of bruising that may occur during the procedure.

Are there any side effects?

All cosmetic procedures carry risks and side effects. Common temporary side effects, usually lasting up to 3 days maximum, following your procedure:

  • Tenderness at the injection site

  • Swelling at the injection site

  • Bruising

Less frequent side effects are:

  • Severe swelling

  • Lumping and product migration

  • Infection

  • Allergic reaction

  • Vascular Occlusion – blocking blood to a vessel and possibly leading to tissue necrosis.

Who is unsuitable for this type of procedure?

Although there is no precise data on the side effects on pregnant women and ladies who are breastfeeding, this procedure is not advised on these customers as it might represent a risk on mother and baby.
